How to Read an STM32 Datasheet — Key Sections for Buyers
Ordering the wrong STM32 variant is expensive. Package suffixes like C8T6 vs C8T6TR matter. Here's what to check before submitting your RFQ.
1. Ordering Information Table
The first page lists exact orderable part numbers. STM32F103C8T6 (tray) vs STM32F103C8T6TR (tape & reel) are different SKUs with different MOQs.
2. Package Drawing
Confirm your PCB footprint matches:
- LQFP-48 (7x7mm) for F103C8
- LQFP-100 (14x14mm) for F407VG
3. Temperature Grade
- Standard: -40°C to +85°C — Most commercial applications
- Extended grades — Higher cost, specify only if required
4. Flash Size Suffix
The "8" in C8T6 means 64KB flash. Ordering C6 (32KB) by mistake causes firmware incompatibility.
5. ECCN Classification
STM32F103 is typically ECCN 3A991.a.2 (EAR99 for most destinations). Verify for your export destination before placing orders.
